POUMTCHAC Fanzine - June 2001 – Soap Opera   [retour]
A three tracks CD, from " Soap Opera " that made us be very interested in the band with a
particular line up (ex. ahorcados and Kochise - no stranger to everybody…). Three tracks
which are obviously in agreement with the ironic title of the CD and which will not leave
anybody indifferent. A denunciation of a situation threw direct lyrics, a will to be engaged,
a fast rhythm and very powerful vocals. Everything is clear, concise and the production
is surprising : punk old school with a Conflict style but maybe with a cleaner sound.
No effects (two minutes by track), in a very simple way. Well done and refreshing,

    LONGUEURS D'ONDES – April/June 2001 – Soap Opera   [retour]
Fury and energy. 100% Female trio, melodic punk hardcore on powerful vocals.
Lyrics in English, French and Spanish

    ABUS DANGEREUX – April/May 2001 – Soap Opera   [retour]
Congratulations for this 100% female punk-rock'n'roll trio from the Paris area which
centers its concept mainly around the sexism / machism. These " charlie's angels "
are not beginners : they play or did in Kochise and Ahorcados. 9 tracks with an involving
punk-rock, melodic, and non repetitive. Sometimes it remembers La Fraktion (" Trève de
comptoir ", " Espèce humaine ? "), with always intelligent words in French, Spanish
and English, covering serious subjects : female condition (home violence, rape, abortion),
prison, animal rights, death penalty. That's Punk that we would like to see more often in
these non-political-skately and demagogic heavymetal times. Riot grrrls not dead ! (LA)

    LYLO #107 – April-May 2001 – Soap Opera.   [retour]
A female Punk hardcore trio without concession, with a fucking fast tempo, committed
with original guitars against the sexual harassment, animal testing or Fascisms.

    MP3 Magazine – May 2001   [retour]
The PunkCore, this musical style not very known, deserves attention by the energy which
comes from it and by the claims it usually carries. Anti-sexism, animal liberation,
antiracism and antifascism are very often the subjects approached in the songs but
also outwards (Live, in the booklets of the CDs.) This " movement ", which Cria Cuervos
comes from, is characterized also by the DIY * attitude in the gigs organizations
    or productions.
In May 1999 born Cria Cuervos from 2 other bands : Ahorcados and Kochise. Since then,
Soap Opera, 9 tracks CD, born from this meeting. The website will present the band
better than we could and you will find a lot of informations on the subjects these ladies
    are worried about : WWW.CRIACUERVOS.NET

    * Do It Yourself

PUMP – April 2001 – Soap Opera – Punk girls   [retour]
Cria Cuervos is a 100% female trio and 200% punk-rock'n'roll with alternative tendencies
with lyrics strongly engaged in favour of feminism. Feminist texts as those of Portobello
Bones can be. Musicaly, these riot girrrls have been rather influenced by the alternative
french scene (from which they come from), or by the Dead Kennedys. Girls are too rare in
the style, but when they involve themselves they worth more than the usual males.
    (Kiwi).

    HEARTATTACK – 2001 – Soap Opera   [retour]
Thoughtful and intense punk-hardcore offered up by these three women.
Nine tracks with politically and socially charged lyrics that are sung in french,
english and spanish ! Nice layout and artwork with liner notes that tackle such
issues as rape, discrimination, home violence and prostitution. Refreshing
fast paced sound that I enjoyed (NH).

ROCKSOUND - February 2001 - CD Soap Opera.   [retour]
Even if the first CD of the girls from Cria Cuervos begins with a tone rather parodic of
theTV's soap operas, the remainder of this album is really different.
On a furious punk-rock'n'roll, with some Hardcore variations, many serious subjects are
thrown to the face of the punk-rocker : the Woman condition of course (rape, prostitution,
home-violence) but imprisonment too, death penalty, animal torture... The trio alternates
with French, Spanish and English lyrics, to vary the colors and the impact of its message.
Far from the fake riot grrls, Cria Cuervos is essential as a true engaged band, not only in
its music, but also in its actions. It is rare today (FF)

    EARQUAKE - January-February 2001 - #74 - CD Soap Opera.   [retour]
This first album from these three riot grrls coming from the parisian suburbs is a small
speed bomb : 9 songs in 18 minutes, with a fast and aggressive Punk-Rock. The lyrics
are sung in english, spanish and french, and between the songs, you can find some
sound extracts with a feminist spirit / claiming of this album (there is also a song against
vivisection). The booklet also shows, in addition to lyrics and illustrations, some statistics
on the current situation of Woman around the world

    MAXIMUM ROCKNROLL - January 2001 - #212 - CD Soap Opera.   [retour]
Songs in French, Spanish, and English by these multi-lingual French ladies.
This is excellent catchy, melodic, and driving punk rock with a pretty fast tempo.
I'd love to hear more from these women. Check them out. (SR)

GUNS FEVER Fanzine– October 2000 – CD Demo 4 tracks   [retour]
Three girls playing a very angry punk hardcore. This is not the girls' first experiment :
Kochise, Ahorcados are their original bands. They chose to meet for a change, and to bring
something else to the actual scene. Therefore you will find four tracks very committed, with
my preferred: " Trève de comptoir ". I let you discover this Cd, and it would be too bad to have
not bought it yet ! (Fred).

    GATO NEGRO Fanzine - #9 - September 2000 - CD Demo 4 tracks.   [retour]
Almost 8 minutes for 4 tracks denouncing an actual and bad situation. The offence is perpetrated
by this Parisian female trio where we find emblematic figures of the french punk-hardcore scene
with Geraldine from Kochise and from Turtle ramblers ' garage country against cowboys' and
also with Teresa and Isabelle from the band Ahorcados. These furious songs, fast and
concise were recorded during the summer 99 and I wonder what is happening to Cria Cuervos
right now (Cria Cuervos is a spanish expression about ingratitude) because honestly we want
to know more ! These ' Charlie's angels' show us an uncomon energy that some people would
love to have. "  Playing God " is almost a classical song, ' Espèce humaine? ' tears the night...
The music and the two vocals give me shivers, the lyrics sung in French, English, Spanish talk
about feelings of fights, abandonments, of social and emotional misery, animal liberation...
The lyrics are concerned socially and politically. We surprise ourselves to tear off our voice
at the same time as they do. Definitely, Cria Cuervos is better than your daily antidepressant. (h)
