ABOUT WOMEN ...

Home Violence : It is one of the principal causes of wounds inflicted to women and women deaths in the world. States often ignore, or tolerate that kind of violence, because it said to be a private matter. In the USA, for instance, 10 women die every day victims of home violence. 74 % of those murders take place after a break up, when the woman started a divorce procedure or prosecutions against her companion.

Rape : Rape is an act of violence that aimed at assert the domination of the man against the woman by the use of force. It is nothing like an uncontrolled sexual appetite, in most of the cases it is not impulsive. Research made in Europe and the U.S. shows that it is often premeditated and achieved by relatives (members of the family, friends, neighbours). In the US, it is the crime that increases the most and touches one victim each 45 seconds.
Culturaly, sexual crimes are first interpreted as a violation of the comunity and family integrity, before being the one of the victim humiliation.

Abortion : Every year, 25 to 30 millions women in the world have a legal abortion, and about 20 millions a clandestine one. There is just a few countries where a legal access to abortion with no danger for women's health exists. Over 200 000 women die every year after a clandestine abortion.

Discriminations : Women represent the most important share of poors in the world, and the one that increases the fastest. They just own 1 % of the earth lands, represent 2/3 of 970 millions of people that do not know to read or write, and have a salary rate inferior to men's. In countries where statistics exist gaps of salaries represent 30% to 40%. Women are stuck in activity sectors where salaries are low and are often moved aside from important jobs.

Mutilations : 130 millions of women and girls are concerned by sexual mutilations. " Excision " is the clitoris and small lips removal from the vulva. " Infibulation " adds to the " excision " the big lips section and the two stump are sutured side to side. A very small hole is left to the period and urine flow. When mariage, the infibulated woman is lanced with a blade to allow sexual intercourses. The opening done is nevertheless insufficient for a future delivery. The incision will be increased for a child birth and then reduced once again to its initial dimensions, and so on.

Prostitution : It is not a female institution, but an activity under men's control, and that survives by violence. International traffic growing up, women body is treated as a merchandise. Girls are bought and sold between cartels and a sex stock exchange exists for the supplying of new prostitutes. This international traffic grows thanks to economical disparity between regions in the world on the hand, between men and women on the other hand.
