"PROSTITUTION WITHOUT BORDERS - Some figures."



According to UNO, 4 million women and girls are bought and sold each year in the world. Among them, 7 000 from Nepal, forced to work like sex workers in the houses of Delhi or Bombay, and two thirds of the 55 000 prostitutes of Kampuchea recruited by force. According to Empower association, sexual tourism brings back 1 billion dollar to Thailand each year.

Another example: it is estimated that, each year, approximately 200 000 women coming from the Eastern European countries work for the European procurers. According to Mrs. Larysa Kobelyanska, person in charge for the female League of Kiev, "100 000 Ukrainian women were in a few years victims of the criminal networks of the industry of sex".

Prostitution in the world would generate an annual turnover between 5 billion and 7 billion dollars. According to Interpol, a prostitute would bring in nearly 107 000 dollars each year to her procurer.
